Finally, I switched audio tracks on the first file from TrueHD 7.1 Atmos to DTS-HD MA 5.1 and it plays flawlessly. I assumed at first the problem was due to Atmos, so I tried a different file with TrueHD 5.1 and no Atmos. The server isn't quite powerful enough to transcode from 4k to 1080p in real time so it was obvious something was amiss fairly quickly. I first noticed it when trying to play a UHD file with TrueHD 7.1 Atmos. However, I just recently purchased a new TV ( Samsung UN55NU800DFXZA) along with the new Fire TV 4k and I've run into an issue I can't seem to quite figure out: Any time I try to play a file with TrueHD audio it transcodes the file. I've mostly been either watching it on the TV connected to the HTPC, or streaming over Ethernet to my computer in my room. Last year I built an HTPC and set it up as a Plex server in my living room.
